North Carolina Roots, National Reach
Our story began in a garage in Morehead City, NC, where founder Eugene Smelik, Sr. set out to solve his own water quality problems. He discovered Kinetico in 1971 and was so impressed by its design and performance that he made it his life’s mission to bring it to others.
In 1987, Kinetico Advanced Water Systems, Inc. was born and today, we’ve grown to 15 service locations across Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. In Chesapeake and surrounding areas, we continue that tradition of excellence by bringing locally informed service with nationwide experience.
Meet Dr. Gene, the Ph.D. Scientist Behind Our Water Expertise
Our legacy of innovation continues with Dr. Gene Smelik, Jr., who serves as Vice President and our in-house scientific authority. With a Ph.D. in geology and doctoral background in inorganic chemistry, Dr. Gene’s expertise in water chemistry, emerging contaminants and system design influences every part of our operation, from staff training to custom system builds.
Dr. Gene specializes in complex contaminant mitigation, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and radionuclides making our team especially equipped to handle the evolving water challenges of Chesapeake’s growing communities.
